The Lexington Sporting Club will use Transylvania University\u2019s Thomas Field<\/a> as its official training ground in 2023. The former home field of Transy athletic teams will be renovated and outfitted for use by LSC during the team\u2019s inaugural season in USL League One.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited to partner with the Lexington Sporting Club as they bring professional soccer to Lexington,\u201d said Transylvania President Brien Lewis. \u201cTheir commitment to connecting with and supporting the community aligns perfectly with our values, and we look forward to hosting the teams as they begin preparing for the future.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam Stockley, sporting director and head coach of LSC\u2019s first team, added, “One of our primary goals as a club is to connect with the community, and we’re fortunate to be able to do that here with Transy. It’s obviously a well-established institution, but their continued dedication to higher learning and excellence in athletics is inspiring. The use of their grass pitch is crucial to our professional players’ development, and we can’t wait to call it home for 2023.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LSC will kick off its inaugural campaign in the spring of 2023. Improvements to the field, located off Fifth Street between North Broadway and Bourbon Avenue, are already underway. As part of the agreement, Transylvania teams and students will still have access to the field when LSC is not scheduled to use it. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
