USA Today\/College Factual\u2019s recent Best Colleges for the Money ranking lists the university 10th among more than 1,000 schools. Also, the U.S. News list of Best Colleges released today once again places Transylvania among the country\u2019s top 100 liberal arts schools.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to consistently rank among the nation\u2019s finest liberal arts colleges,\u201d Transylvania president Seamus Carey said. \u201cRecognitions such as these reflect the quality of our incoming classes and the education they receive\u2014at a great value compared to most of the rest of the U.S. News top-100 liberal arts schools.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ninety-eight percent of Transylvania\u2019s students receive assistance that reduces tuition, making it an attractive option\u2014even when compared to public universities\u2014for families on a tight budget.<\/p>\n
The USA Today ranking considers the educational quality of an institution as well as factors such as tuition, grants, scholarships and the average number of years it takes students to earn a degree. \u201cThe bigger the difference between the school\u2019s quality and its cost, the more quality education you are getting for the dollar and thus the higher the value for the money,\u201d according to College Factual, the service used by USA Today.<\/p>\n
In today\u2019s U.S. News ranking, Transylvania placed 46th in the Best Value category for national liberal arts colleges. The university also tied for 83rd<\/sup> among the country\u2019s best liberal arts colleges and placed 106th among the High School Counselor Picks.<\/p>\n Earlier this summer, Forbes ranked Transylvania among the nation\u2019s best colleges for student outcomes and alumni giving. Transylvania placed among the top 10\u00a0percent of U.S. colleges for general return on investment\u2014measures including post-graduate success, satisfaction and student debt\u2014and among the top 4 percent of colleges in graduate donations and participation rate.<\/p>\n Another recent ranking reflects the value of a Transylvania education. The school placed 42nd in Washington Monthly\u2019s Best Bang for the Buck among Southern colleges.<\/p>\n Also, the Princeton Review last month included Transylvania in the Best 381 Colleges and among the Best Southeastern colleges.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile rankings are important, much of what we do here at Transylvania isn\u2019t easily quantified,\u201d President Carey said. \u201cStudents become part of a lifelong community that helps them develop as a whole person.
