LEXINGTON, Ky. \u2013 Transylvania University senior Grace Chambers has been named editor-in-chief of the school\u2019s student newspaper, The Rambler<\/em>. Chambers, of Lexington, will take over the reins of the weekly publication after serving as opinion editor and news editor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to work hard to make The Rambler<\/em> the most relevant, informative and thought-provoking news source possible for the Transy community,\u201d said Chambers, an English major.<\/p>\n

Chambers\u2019 top priority as editor-in-chief will be providing more aggressive reporting and broader coverage of campus life, she said. Chambers replaces Sara Thompson, who graduated in May.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is so much happening here at Transy and so much to write about,\u201d Chambers said. \u201cI look forward to working with a very talented staff to look closely into campus issues and better reflect the life of a Transy student.\u201d<\/p>\n

Senior Melissa True, of Corinth, is the new managing editor. She served as news editor during the 2008 winter and fall terms before studying abroad in England during the 2009 winter term. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter coming back from studying abroad, one of the things I\u2019m looking forward to about Transy is returning to The Rambler <\/em>staff. I\u2019m excited to start working on it again,\u201d True said.<\/p>\n

Student media adviser Terri McLean will continue to work with the all-volunteer staff. She spent 25 years in the newspaper business, including a 21-year stint at the Lexington Herald-Leader<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really proud of The Rambler<\/em>\u2019s progress this past year and look forward to working with Grace, Melissa and the rest of the staff this year,\u201d McLean said. \u201cThey all have a desire to make the newspaper the best it can be and are ready and willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The editorial staff also includes design\/layout editor Erin Brock, of West Chester, Ohio; news editor Kim Rodgers, of Versailles; campus life editor Erica Mundell, of Brandenburg; arts\/entertainment editor Rachel Williams, of New Albany, Ohio; opinion editor Amanda Holt, of Versailles; photo\/graphics editor Jessica Horohov, of Lexington; sports editor Carlos Melgar, of Lexington; chief copy editor Hillary Bullock, of Lexington; and Web editor Erika Lindstrom, of Mount Sterling.<\/p>\n
