The workshop and performance event in the basement of Mitchell Fine Arts was part of the current Morlan Gallery exhibition &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/morlan\/\">Reflection Refraction Reaction<\/a>&#8221; featuring the works of Courtney Kessel, Cayla Skillin-Brauchle and Danielle Wyckoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4-810x539.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18558\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4-810x539.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4-350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4-730x485.jpg 730w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-4.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The artists joined Morlan director Anthony Mead in helping students put together the publications, which tied into the exhibition themes of magic and labor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wyckoff said she hoped the students got &#8220;a sense of collaboration&#8221; and saw what can happen when there&#8217;s a little bit of positive disruption in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zines started in the 1950s and 60s and were often associated with counter-cultural movements like punk. They were cheap, democratic ways to quickly spread information that might not be easily accessible elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"810\" height=\"539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2-810x539.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2-810x539.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2-350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2-730x485.jpg 730w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2021\/11\/transylvania_zine-making-2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Students picked pages that were created during the workshop to create their own personalized zine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior Zaida Jones said she appreciated the creative outlet the workshop provided. And in true liberal arts spirit, she chose elements related to her biology major \u2014 such as images of spores \u2014 to create her design.
