Courtwright has been thinking and writing about the history of drug use and drug policy since the mid-1970s. He is the author of several books, including \u201cAddicts Who Survived,\u201d \u201cDark Paradise: A History of Opiate Addiction in America\u201d and \u201cForces of Habit: Drugs and the Making of the Modern World.\u201d<\/p>\n
