LEXINGTON, Ky.\u2014Michael B\u00e9rub\u00e9, named one of the 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America by conservative commentator David Horowitz, will speak at Transylvania Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the William T. Young Campus Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.\n<\/p>\n
\nB\u00e9rub\u00e9, the Paterno Professor in English Literature and Science, Technology and Society at Penn State, is a leading social critic and one of a new generation of intellectuals who cross over between academe and popular culture.\n<\/p>\n
\nA prolific writer, B\u00e9rub\u00e9\u2019s essays have appeared in \u201cHarper\u2019s,\u201d \u201cThe New Yorker,\u201d \u201cThe New York Times Magazine,\u201d \u201cThe Washington Post\u201d and \u201cThe Nation,\u201d as well as his blogs on issues from the culture wars to professional hockey. He is the author of six books, including \u201cWhat\u2019s Liberal About the Liberal Arts? Classroom Politics and \u2018Bias\u2019 in Higher Education.\u201d\u00a0 His book, \u201cLife As We Know It: A Father, a Family, and an Exceptional Child,\u201d was a \u201cNew York Times\u201d Notable Book of the Year in 1996 and was chosen as one of the best books of the year by Maureen Corrigan of National Public Radio.\n<\/p>\n
