\"PrincetonLEXINGTON, Ky.\u2014Transylvania University is listed in The Princeton Review\u2019s The Best 373 Colleges, a ranking that includes the top 15 percent of America\u2019s 2,500 four-year colleges. \u201cOur choices are based on institutional data we collect about schools, our visits to schools over the years, feedback we gather from students attending the schools, and the opinions of our staff and our 28-member National College Counselor Advisory Board,\u201d said Robert Franek, Princeton Review\u2019s senior vice president for publishing. \u201cWe also work to keep a wide representation of colleges in the book by region, size, selectivity and character.” \u00a0<\/p>\n

The book\u2019s two-page profile of Transylvania includes comments from Transy students surveyed for the book. Included in those comments were descriptions of Transylvania as a \u201csmall and \u2018very challenging\u2019 bastion of the liberal arts and sciences with a \u2018strong premed program,\u2019 \u2018a remarkable pre-law program,\u2019 and a broad core curriculum.\u201d <\/p>\n

A sophomore is quoted as saying, \u201cthe small college atmosphere allows students to participate in many arenas. At many schools, a math major would never be able to sing in the choir, work on the school newspaper, and be a resident assistant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other students said that \u201cacademic standards here are high\u201d and dedication is \u201crequired if you want to excel.\u201d The low student-to-faculty ratio means professors \u201care really concerned about helping you learn\u201d and are \u201cgreat to just sit down and talk with during their office hours.\u201d <\/p>\n
