Transylvania University has distributed more than $400,000 in federal coronavirus relief funds over the past month to help students cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school on Monday published a report<\/a> on how it has so far disbursed its allotment from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost all students have received some of the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania distributed the funds as quickly and widely as possible \u2014 with the goal of helping students in the greatest need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, each eligible full\u2010time student who received a federal Pell Grant for the winter 2020 term received $1,000. All other eligible full\u2010time, degree\u2010seeking students who could file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, whether they did so or not, received $250. Those with other needs were encouraged to apply for additional emergency funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are one-time grants and don\u2019t require repayment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
