Transylvania University is offering transfer assistance to students from Urbana University, which announced this week it is closing at the end of its Spring 2020 semester. Transfer applications are open now for Transylvania\u2019s fall term, which is scheduled to start Aug. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTransylvania University provides the small classes, professor-student interaction and a caring campus community, similar to what students on campus at Urbana have received during their time there,\u201d said Johnnie Johnson, interim vice president for enrollment and director of admissions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can apply for free online. Transcripts from Urbana, final high school transcripts, a letter of recommendation or statement of good standing must also be submitted with the application. An optional essay or writing sample is suggested as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will provide students from Urbana assistance and will offer flexibility for transfer credits earned with a minimum grade of C-,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWe will make every attempt to adapt credits earned at Urbana to Transylvania\u2019s curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An NCAA Division III school, Transylvania has 27 intercollegiate athletics teams that have won more than 50 conference championships since 2004. Transylvania has received an NCAA blanket waiver to speak to any current Urbana student-athletes about the opportunity to transfer and play. Those student-athletes with eligibility remaining may contact the athletics department<\/a> for additional information.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic scholarships to Transylvania are available for all transfer students. To be eligible for other forms of aid, students should make sure their FAFSA has been filed and Transylvania has been added (code 001987).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania has moved its classes online through the end of May and canceled on-campus admissions visits; however there are several ways for transfers to learn how Transy can be a life-changing college experience.
