In fact, this past weekend her Instagram account <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thebookend.diner\/\">The Bookend Diner<\/a> surpassed 11,000 followers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The diner part of the name comes from her love of cooking,\nwhich often finds its way into her reviews \u2014 whether she&#8217;s discussing a\ncookbook or posting a photo of a character&#8217;s favorite pie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She started The Bookend Diner last spring on social media and a <a href=\"https:\/\/thebookenddiner.com\/\">blog site<\/a> as a way to combine two of her passions into a creative outlet \u2014 now she can talk about books all the time without having her friends wish she&#8217;d stop talking about books all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I never thought it was going to take off as much as it\ndid,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In just this past year she\u2019s developed a lot of partnerships\nwith publishers, who send her free, not-yet-released books to review. &#8220;My\nreading list is about a mile long, and I keep track of everything in an Excel\nsheet,&#8221; Waskey said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two to three times a week she posts reviews of books from a\nvariety of genres, from historical fiction to thrillers to sci-fi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/chase2-810x805.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10346\" width=\"362\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2-810x805.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2-350x348.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2-730x725.jpg 730w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2-768x763.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2-300x298.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.transy.edu\/1780\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/02\/chase2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 362px) 100vw, 362px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She especially likes books set in the past. &#8220;I can\nlearn about history and travel the world without having to leave my seat,&#8221;\nshe said. &#8220;A lot of times if I&#8217;m reading about a place in a book, I&#8217;ll\nlook it up so I can see what it looks like, and I will feel that I am really\nthere. I love being transported into the books and the story line.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now she can take her experiences to a new level by sharing\nthem with thousands of other readers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I definitely found out I enjoy life a lot right now\nbecause I can access this creative side of my brain,&#8221; Waskey said.\n&#8220;It&#8217;s been fun.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up, she&#8217;s thinking about starting a Transylvania book\nclub, which may meet over lunch, of course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transylvania health educator Chase Waskey is a popular online book reviewer.
