Response featuring the work of 16 Beaver Group, Shannon Ebner, Kurt Gohde, Tim Stegmaier
October 28 through December 9, Morlan Gallery, noon to 5pm weekdays

Liberty Security Justice, these words with their towering capital letters and their towering capital significance, are likely to overwhelm us - in the same way that so many recent events and the responses to them have overwhelmed us. We nervousely seek shelter beneath them, as if they were solid, familiar pillars. At the same time we worry that they may be crumbling before us (may already have crumbled), just as the solid familiar towers of Manhattan disintegrated in that terrible shrieking instant that seems now to bind us all. Curating a show exploring topics like this is a daunting affair. We know in a nearly visceral way somewhere half hidden in the shadows they cast lie complex, conflicted meanings huddling in tense apprehension. These are difficult but crucial spaces that artists in this show courageously explore.
