Petra Carroll


Petra Carroll has lived in a variety of places across the United States, including Texas, New York, North Carolina and Kentucky. She currently resides in Pikeville Kentucky and works as an Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Pikeville. She holds a BA in economics from Rutgers College in New Jersey, and a BFA and MFA in studio art from Winthrop University in South Carolina. Petra’s professional experience includes banking, galley work, teaching and art. Within the context of her artwork, Petra explores the edges of the familiar within the shifting spaces that lie somewhere between the remembered and the unknown. Through the use of commonplace objects and materials, her artwork creates a dialogue between with their haunting potential of remembrance, and the shimmering boundary of the unfamiliar in a universe which is infinite, mysterious, unexpected and endlessly surprising.
