THANK YOU FOR THE INCREDIBLE GENEROSITY. The Morlan Gallery sold almost every bowl on our first day of The Empty Bowls Project. Please note that we do not have any soup bowls left and just three artists bowls.
CALL TO ARTISTS FOR THE 2010 SALE
The art program at Transylvania University invites you to help feed the
hungry by doing some early Christmas shopping for beautiful handmade ceramic
bowls at the Morlan Gallery.
Transylvania University and Morehead University ceramic students and their
professors, Dan Selter (Transy) and Kira Munson Campbell and Steven Tirone
(Morehead) have thrown and donated hundreds
of beautiful ceramic soup bowls available for $10 purchase in the Morlan
Gallery. For every purchase of a soup bowl, a ticket for a free bean soup supper
will be given. Suppers are $5 without a bowl purchase. Please note the bean soup
will be vegetarian. All proceeds from bowl sales and the soup supper will go to
Community Action Council, a Lexington agency that provides living essentials for local residents.
New this year, the soup supper will coincide with the annual A Christmas Carol performance by Transylvania University theater professor Tim Soulis.
It all starts on Wednesday, December 3

Started 16 years ago, the Empty Bowls Project is an opportunity for artists to donate hand-made soup bowls to help feed the hungry in their community. Over the last eight years the Morlan Gallery has raised almost $24,000 for local agencies such as Moveable Feast, the YWCA Spousal Abuse Center, and The Hope Center.
If you are an artist who would like to participate in Transy’s Empty Bowls Project, it’s not too late! Functional or nonfunctional artist’s bowls of any media; wood, glass, fiber, paper mache would be wonderful additions to this worthy event. Please contact gallery director Andrea Fisher for more information.
