Course Name: Early Childhood Health and Education Section 11 Instructor: Geoffrey Williams
Over the past few decades researchers have discovered that early childhood health and education can have a remarkable long-term impact. For example, improvement in early life healthcare around the world mean that young adults today are frequently 2 or more inches taller than their parents. Having a “good” kindergarten teacher vs. an “average” kindergarten teacher may increase your income by thousands of dollars as an adult.
This class will look some of the most interesting and surprising areas of research in the early childhood and its implications: How much can we affect long-term outcomes by improving early childhood health and education? What are the limits to such interventions? And how much should we expect of parents, society, the government?
