This section will utilize the work of the inimitable Kurt Vonnegut as a particular lens through which to examine American culture. We will read several of Vonnegut’s novels (e.g., Galapagos) and some of his short fiction (e.g., “Harrison Bergeron”). Class discussion will focus on the themes Vonnegut introduces. Student projects will be centered on analyses of areas of concern about U.S. culture and methods for addressing those issues.
