The Pioneer Leadership Certificate Program

One of Transylvania's newest and most innovative co-curricular programs, the Pioneer Leadership Certificate Program is designed for those students wanting to polish their leadership skills. Students can start the program at any time during their undergraduate experience and complete as many certificate levels as they choose.

The program is appropriate both for students with extensive leadership experience and for those with no experience at all. Participants first undergo an initial assessment of their leadership knowledge and background, as well as their involvement on campus and their goals for the program.

Pioneer Leadership Certificate ProgramAfter completing the enrollment process, students in the self-paced program will be assigned a Pioneer Guide who will provide support, guidance, and council as they progress through the various certificate levels. During the process students learn about leadership and develop skills through workshops, lectures, guided readings, weekend retreats, leadership conferences, self-assessments, service work, peer mentoring, and reflection and journaling.

The program culminates with a leadership capstone experience requiring the student to synthesize and apply what he or she has learned throughout the Pioneer Leadership Certificate Program. Upon completion, the student will earn the distinction of being a "Pioneer Leadership Fellow" and will be recognized with a leadership medallion.
