Disability Services for Students
The Disability Services Office (DSO) is located on the first floor of Old Morrison in room 111, and the Testing Center is located in room 110. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am - 2:00pm. Office hours are extended during mid-terms and final exams each semester. The Disability Services Office is closed during the summer and re-opens one week prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
The Disability Services Office offers free and confidential academic counseling to all registered students. Information collected from health care professionals will not be released outside of the Disability Services Office without a signed release from the student. Likewise, DSO will not speak with other health care professionals, coaches, friends, or parents without a student's express written permission.
The employees at Transylvania University are committed to meeting the needs of all students. Students who are not receiving the accommodations they are eligible for and have requested through the Disability Services Office, should first contact the Coordinator of Disability Services. If after mediation a student still has reason to believe their access to accommodations has been denied, they are encouraged to utilize the mechanisms in place to bring about a timely resolution. Please see Transylvania University's Grievance Process for more information.
