Local Campus Ministries

As a small city and a college town, there is a place for everyone in Lexington. Following is a list of groups where Transylvania students are currently involved.

Young adult group

If you do not see your faith tradition on this list, contact Wilson Dickinson, associate dean for religious life. He will work with you to find the place of worship or the community that is right for you.

Baptist Student Group at Calvary Baptist Church
Our college group is a close-knit community of students from several surrounding colleges and universities. With our proximity to the University of Kentucky, Midway College, Eastern Kentucky University and Transylvania University, many of our college group members are from these schools. Together, we seek ways to further our conversations about faith and our daily walk in that faith — often in a fun, relaxed environment where members are welcomed and encouraged to come just as they are. For more information about college ministry gatherings, send a message to Rev. Chad Snellgrove.

Maxwell Street Presbyterian College Group
If you’re looking for a break from the school routine, join the Presbyterian College Group on the first and third Wednesdays of each month for a meal and activity. Or, head to Pazzo’s for pizza after worship on Sundays at noon—we're quite the regulars! For more information, contact Kyle Brown, youth minister.

Disciples of Christ Group at Central Christian Church

Broadway Christian Church: The College Group
Every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., the college students of Broadway Christian Church meet to discuss various topics. The discussions can range from "how to adjust to your ever-changing life" to "what does God say about dating" and everything in-between. The group follows a wide-range of bible studies and sermon series and always focuses on what is going on in the students’ lives. Along with the Sunday morning group, The College Group also offers monthly outings. For more information, contact Kyle Leadingham.

Shiloh Baptist Church: “Unchained” Young Adult Ministry
Located just blocks from Transylvania’s campus, the Shiloh Baptist Church “Unchained” Young Adult ministry is committed to the holistic well – being of our Campus Disciples. Our Unchained Sunday School sessions offer frank discussion about issues facing young adults. We focus on using faith to “break the chains” of life’s challenges. Our Unchained Ministry features monthly social outings as well as quarterly community service at the Catholic Action Center. Church services at Shiloh are held at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Unchained Sunday School and continental breakfast begin at 9:30 a.m. For further information on Unchained activities, van transportation, or prayer requests, please contact us at SBCUnchained@gmail.com.

Tates Creek Christian Church (Independent Christian)
Tates Creek Presbyterian Church-Downtown exists for the glory of Christ and the good of the Bluegrass.  Part of how we accomplish this vision is in weekly worship at 210 N. Broadway at 5 p.m. on Sundays.  We seek to serve the communities in and around downtown, which certainly includes Transylvania University.  If you are interested in what we are up to you can visit our website at www.tcpcdowntown.org or follow us on Twitter @tcpcdowntown.
