The Art and Art History Program measures student success in a variety of ways—student growth and development during the four-year undergraduate experience, achievements in graduate programs, awards and grants, and mobility and stature in the workplace. Our Senior Seminar capstone courses attempt to ready students for a rigorous post-Transy application, and we encourage graduates to keep open lines of communication as they make their places in the world.
Our majors have received numerous competitive Jones Student Project Development Grants for both research and studio-based projects, along with Fulbright teaching awards and competitive positions with international study programs. Most students have little difficulty continuing their studies in high profile graduate programs. Some graduates elect to enter the workforce shortly after graduation, and have developed significant careers in commercial art, broadcasting, museology, communications, publication, photography, free-lance art and photography, and arts administration. Others are enjoying careers as secondary school teachers and college professors. A few have applied their liberal education to non-art careers, including social work, veterinary medicine, art therapy, and fashion purchasing. Below is an abbreviated list of student achievements:
