The Transylvania Admissions Ambassadors (AAs) are a group of current students with a wide range of majors and hometowns who meet with prospective students when they visit campus. You may find our AAs in the admissions office, leading tours of campus, eating lunch with prospective students, and hosting overnight visitors in their rooms. We encourage you to come to campus and meet some of these friendly faces!
Well, hey there! I'm Alex Cheser and I'm from Lawrenceburg, Ky. I’m currently a senior psychology major who plans on going to grad school for food studies (I promise, it's real). In addition to being an admissions ambassador, I serve as vice president for my fraternity, vice director for TUnity (Transylvania's gender and sexuality alliance), and a member of the improv comedy team and choir. Transy and the liberal arts have allowed me to explore my academic interests in psychology, food, and more, and I would love to tell you all about it. Also, ask me about my semester abroad in Norway, because Norway is awesome. Hope to see you soon!
Hello, all! My name is John Culbertson, and I'm currently in my third year here at Transylvania. I'm a history major from Georgetown, Ky. I enjoy singing in Transy's a cappella group (TBA) and the Transylvania Choir, and I’m an active member in my fraternity. I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, seeing the sights, and biking throughout downtown Lexington. I take pride in being a part of the Transylvania community, and I look forward to seeing you on campus sometime soon!

Hi, everybody! My name is Lauren Gallenstein, and I’m a sophomore from Winchester, Ky. I plan to double major in political science and Spanish. On campus, I enjoy spending my free time volunteering, working with admissions, and participating in Greek life. I love the close personal connections I have developed at Transylvania, and I am excited to meet so many new students and families this year. I have had so many fun experiences here at Transylvania in only one short year, and I cannot wait to share them with you!
My name is Matthaus Huelse. I'm an international student from Germany, which explains the strange name. I came to Transylvania three years ago, and now I'm a senior with a double major in biology and sociology. I love the experiences I've had here and the strange differences I discover. I came to Transy through a friend of a friend of mine. If you want to know more about Transylvania, about the pronunciation of my name, and not just why I chose this school but also why I enjoy every little second of it, I'll be happy to share my experiences with you on a tour of campus or an overnight visit!
Hi! My name is Sally Jagielski and I'm the lead overnight host this year. Majoring in chemistry and minoring in math and art history, I love how Transylvania has made me into a more well-rounded person, while allowing me to take all the classes I love. As a junior, I’m starting to decide what I want to do post-graduation. Currently, I’m weighing the options of going to graduate school or taking a year off to do service work. Apart from studying, giving tours and hosting overnights, I also hold a position within my sorority. With two years on campus under my belt, I can honestly say Transylvania has provided me with so much! I hope to see you on campus, so you can see what Transy has to offer you!
Hello! My name is Nash Laungani, and I’m a sophomore here at Transylvania. I haven’t yet declared a major, but I have aspirations to pursue a career in healthcare. Although I have grown up in Lexington, Transylvania has undoubtedly provided me with the full college experience. I am part of the Student Government Association, president of the Pre-Health Club, the scholarship chairman for Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary, a member of the men's varsity tennis team, an overnight host admissions ambassador, and I serve on the executive council for my fraternity. I am sincerely looking forward to welcoming you to our community on campus!
My name is JD Lester, and I'm a junior from Madisonville, Ky. For those of you who do not know where that is, it’s a small town three hours southwest in western Kentucky. I’m an economics major with a minor in political science. In addition to being a tour guide on campus, I'm also a member of my fraternity's Executive Board and a student government senator. I look forward to showing you around campus and sharing my stories of how great a school and community Transylvania is!
Hey! My name is Jessica Mahoney. I’m a sophomore from Hebron, Ky.; however, I have lived all over the country and in Europe. Hi, everybody! I'm Emily Martin, and I’m a sophomore at Transylvania. I am the opinion editor for our student newspaper, The Rambler, and I'm active in religious organizations like Disciples on Campus and GIFTS. I have had so many great opportunities in college so far, and I can't wait to show you all of the reasons I fell in love with Transylvania University!
Hello! I'm Kali Mattingly, and I'm a junior biology major. Although I'm a proud Lexingtonian these days, I originally hail from Rush, Ky., just outside of Ashland. As well as working as a tour guide for admissions, I'm an aspiring writing center tutor, an officer in my Greek organization, a volunteer in the community garden, and an active member of Transylvania's first-year honors society.
Hi! My name is Kelsey Meece, and I'm a junior middle school education major from Somerset, Ky. Here at Transylvania, I'm involved in numerous activities, including women’s soccer, Campus Crusade for Christ, Greek life, and admissions. I love living in Lexington, because there are so many things to do off campus. Even more than that, I love spending my time at Transylvania because of the strong feeling of community. I can’t imagine spending my college years anywhere else! I would be more than glad to show you around and welcome you onto campus.
Hi! I'm Caroline Miller and I'm a senior biology major and Spanish minor on the pre-health track. I'm from Paducah, Ky., which is in the far western part of the state. I'm also a transfer student who spent my first year of college at another small liberal arts school in a very small town very different from Lexington. At Transylvania I'm involved with a campus ministry, the admissions office, volunteering, and working as a biology tutor. My favorite thing about Transylvania is our tight-knit campus community where everyone's so friendly. I hope you come for a visit!
Hello! My name is Jessica Obi and I'm a senior at Transylvania. Though my high school alma mater is down the street and I'm fifteen minutes away from home, coming to Transy has been a truly unique experience. I have come to appreciate the city of Lexington and all it has to offer. And so, I can assure you that wherever you decide to go to college, you are still going away to college.
My name is Quincy Williams and I'm a senior biology major and psychology minor from Maysville, Ky. I'm involved in Greek life, the biology club, and other organizations on campus. Hello, everyone! My name is Emmie Wyatt and I’m a junior from Alexandria, Ky., a small town in northern Kentucky. I’m a double major in Spanish and mathematics. I hope to one day become a high school math teacher. Transylvania quickly made me feel at home, with professors and coaches who became my on-campus parents and friends who will last long past graduation. I am involved in the Transylvania Catholic Organization and intramurals and plan to study abroad during winter term 2013. I cannot wait to see you on campus and share my experiences and help you begin creating your own Transy memories!
