Experience Transy

We are delighted that you plan to visit Transy, and we want your experience to be the best that it can be. Pictures can show you our beautiful campus, but they only tell part of the story. Visiting campus is the only way to get a true feel for the spirit of our campus.

To schedule a visit, click here, or call the admissions office at 800-872-6798 or 859-233-8242.

Weekday Visits

During the academic year:
Transylvania's admissions office is open for visits Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. while classes are in session. You're welcome any day of the week; however, Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the best days to attend a class that might interest you. Please plan to spend at least half a day on campus.

During the summer:
We are open for visits Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tours are offered at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and include a walking tour of campus and a meeting with an admissions counselor. Please plan to spend about two hours on campus.

Overnight Visits

An overnight visit will provide you with the best overall view of Transylvania because you can experience both the academic and social sides of campus life. We have a group of students, Admissions Ambassadors, who have an extra bed in their room just for you—no sleeping on the floor at Transy!

Overnight visits are only available for seniors and only during the academic year.

Activities include campus and residence hall tours, student panel discussions, faculty presentations and opportunities to learn about scholarships, athletics and campus life in general.

Click here to register for the next Preview Day on Saturday, April 9.

Group Visits

We can accommodate chaperoned groups of high school students in ninth grade and above. Group size is limited to no more than 50 people (including chaperones). We request a 10:1 student-to-chaperone ratio.

Group visits are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we require at least two weeks’ notice.

During your visit, your group will meet with an admissions counselor for a presentation and will go on a campus tour. Please let us know if there are specific topics you would like us to address with your group.

Campus Visit FAQ:

Q: How far in advance do I need to schedule my visit?
A. Because we customize each visit, we ask that you contact us 5 to 10 business days before you would like to come.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my visit?
A: In the event you need to cancel your visit, please contact the campus visits coordinator or call the admissions office at 800-872-6798.

Q: May I bring a friend?
A: Yes! Please let us know in advance and have your friend's name and contact information available when making the appointment.

Q: Are parents included?
A: Yes! For individual visits, parents often take the campus tour, go to lunch and participate in the admissions and financial aid appointments. If you are visiting overnight, we can recommend several nearby hotels for your parents, and then they can join you on campus the following day.

Q: If I decide to spend the night, where will I sleep?
A: Transylvania has a select group of students called Admissions Ambassadors who host prospective students overnight. They have private rooms in the residence halls with an extra bed for you.

Q: Where should I park while visiting?
A: Visitor parking spots are reserved in the circular drive in front of the Glenn Building, where the admissions office is housed. If those spots are taken, you may park in any of the general parking lots around campus. We'll send you a map and parking pass with your visit itinerary. Please use good judgment when parking on side streets to avoid getting a ticket.

Q: May I stay with my friend who is a current student?
A: Staying with one of our Admissions Ambassadors is preferred because their rooms are equipped with an extra bed, and we know how to reach them in case of a scheduling change. However, if you would prefer to stay with another student, please let us know when you are coming so that we can schedule the other components of a day visit while you're here.

Q: Do I need to bring money for meals?
A: Nope! Admissions will provide you with meals in our campus dining facilities while you are on campus.
