Recommended Sequence of Courses

 

NOTE: To be eligible for any type of certification in education, students must meet the GPA requirement and meet the required scores for a test of basic skills in math, reading, and writing.

Students who are planning on taking Principles of Chemistry I should have the equivalent of a 23 on their ACT Math subscore OR have completed a college level mathematics course (either Functions or its equivalent ) to enhance their mathematical skills.

The Teaching Chemistry major is intended for those wishing to enter the field of secondary education in chemistry upon graduation. A separate Chemistry major is offered to those who wish to enter graduate or professional school or the workforce in a chemistry-related field upon graduation.  Please consult the Chemistry Sequence if interested.
(1) Not required - Chemistry elective; One other 3000-level Chemistry course is required for graduation in addition to CHEM 3115
