Transylvania recently partnered with the Albanian Center for Marine Research to offer the university’s first underwater archaeology and coastal ecology field school. Transylvania anthropology professor Chris Begley joined students and staff from eight countries to investigate Greek, Roman, and Carthaginian shipwrecks off the coast of Albania.
During the three-week field school, students gained hands-on experience participating in ongoing underwater research while learning theory and methods in classroom sessions. Day trips and daily dives exposed students to a variety of underwater sites.

Transylvania University admits students regardless of age, race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, national origin, or any other classification protected by federal or state law or local ordinance.
