Dalton-Voigt Residence Hall
@TransyLiving

Dalton-Voigt is one of our newest coed residence halls—a four-story building centered around common areas on each floor. #LiveAndLearn #TeamNoSleep #ResidenceLife #DoYourOwnLaundry

Dalton-Voigt Residence Hall

The first of three new living spaces opening in 2015-16, Dalton-Voigt ushers in a new vision of campus living and learning. The centerpiece of each floor of the four-story building is a common study space where students can collaborate with their peers outside the classroom. By aligning these spaces with the individual rooms, the residence hall becomes an extension of the academic experience where students are encouraged to continue the formidable discussions that began in the classroom.

Last spring, a group of Transy alumni initialized a campaign to name this initial building, or a key portion therein, after Steve Dalton ’83. An alumnus who tragically passed away far too young, Steve served as a student leader and friend to many.

Forrer Residence Hall

Forrer Hall is a center of activity on campus. The four-story building was refreshed in 2015 and houses our first-year students.

It features spacious community bathrooms, laundry facilities on each floor and a 30-station computer lab. A courtyard in the center of the building connects it to the William T. Young Campus Center and the university dining hall.

Many student services are housed in Forrer Hall, including the Department of Public Safety and the Office of Health Services. Forrer provides two conference rooms that are set aside for 24-hour study, and the front lobby also is designated for study. The back lobby is more social with a television, pool table and the Residence Life Desk, where all residents receive their mail and packages.

Students actively engage in conversation, floor activities, and community engagement and leave their doors open while studying in their rooms.

Marquard Field
@TransyPlaying

Marquard Field is the home of Transylvania baseball. The 500-seat stadium has a beautiful Kentucky bluegrass field and spectacular views of downtown Lexington. #GoPios #TransyBaseball #Pioneers #HomeRun

Marquard Field

Marquard Field, the $1.7 million, state-of-the-art home of Pioneer baseball, opened in 1999. The facility is located off North Broadway 2.3 miles from campus, near the Interstate 75 interchange.

The 10-acre site is a showcase for college baseball. It features a sophisticated irrigation and drainage system that minimizes rainouts and helps keep the field in top playing condition. The symmetrical playing field has a distance of 400 feet from home plate to dead center field, 330-foot foul lines, and 375-foot power alleys.

A unique aspect of the field is the 60 feet of foul territory that encompasses the playing surface. The turf is Kentucky bluegrass, and the dirt surface is a sand-base mix with calcite and Alabama red clay. The field's drainage system is gravity driven with diamond drains every five feet in the infield and pipes running every 10 feet on center in the outfield.

Spectators have a good vantage point from aluminum bleachers that seat 500 behind a backstop that uses netting instead of chain link, affording better views.

Dugouts are made of brick, as are pillars around the property that are joined by wrought iron similar in style to that on the John R. Hall Field.

The field is named in honor of of the late William A. Marquard, who was a Transylvania trustee, former college and semi-pro baseball player, retired chief executive officer and chairman of American Standard, and owner of Eaglestone Farm near Lexington.

Old Morrison
@TransyWorking

For almost 200 years, Old Morrison has been our most well-known building. It's where you'll find our administrative offices—including the president, registrar and financial aid—and every year our graduates walk across the steps to receive their hard-earned diploma. Oh, and there's a tomb—seriously. #PresidentsOffice #1834 #Columns #Rafinesque #IAintAfraidOfNoGhosts

Old Morrison

Old Morrison is a Registered National Historic Landmark built in 1830–34 under the supervision of statesman Henry Clay, who taught law at Transylvania and was a member of the board of trustees. The building was designed by 29-year-old architect Gideon Shryock. During the Civil War, the building served as a hospital for Union troops.

Today Old Morrison houses the offices of the president and the academic deans; the computing center; administrative offices, including human resources, accounting, financial aid, communications, sustainability, and the registrar's office; a chapel; and the tomb of Transylvania's eccentric nineteenth-century naturalist, Constantine Rafinesque.

The building is featured on the city seal of Lexington. Each July, the city's patriotic concert draws upwards of 5,000 people to Old Morrison's lawn to hear the Lexington Philharmonic and the Lexington Singers perform.

If the walls of Old Morrison could talk, we'd never get them to stop.
